Saltley Area N1/N2 Structures

The Saltley Area works encompass a diverse range of major civil engineering structures, including two multi-span road bridges constructed immediately adjacent to live rail infrastructure, a 450m water retaining structure managing overflow from the River Rea, a highly skewed bridge spanning a live canal, and a series of substantial slabs and retaining walls reaching heights of up to 13 m, all delivered within a constrained and operational urban environment.

As a long-term delivery partner to BBV on this section, MPB has been embedded from the outset. Following a three-month preconstruction phase supporting BBV with planning and sequencing of the initial assets, we are now fully integrated within the project team. Together, we are optimising construction methodology, access strategies, resource planning, and temporary works to drive efficiency, safety, and programme certainty across this critical part of the HS2 route.
