MPB is proud to announce its participation in Open Doors 2026, a nationwide initiative aimed at showcasing the diverse and rewarding career opportunities within the UK construction sector.
Running from 23rd to 28th March 2026, Open Doors provides a unique platform for students, young people, and individuals considering a career change to gain behind-the-scenes access to live construction sites, training centres, and professional workplaces.
A Collaborative Effort for Industry Growth
Delivered by Build UK in partnership with the CITB and the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS), the event seeks to demystify the industry. By opening our gates, MPB and our partners aim to highlight the innovation and technical expertise required to deliver the UK’s most significant infrastructure and building projects.
Thousands of visitors across the country will engage with real-world projects this week. MPB is particularly pleased to host students and work experience candidates from South & City College Birmingham, Growth Path, and The Skills Centre. These visitors will have the opportunity to explore some of the largest construction sites in the country, gaining firsthand insight into the scale and complexity of modern engineering.
Vast Opportunities and Apprenticeships
The construction industry currently offers over 180 different occupations, ranging from site-based trade roles to technical engineering and project management positions. A key focus of Open Doors 2026 is the promotion of sustainable career paths, with more than 100 apprenticeship opportunities highlighted throughout the event.
At MPB, we remain committed to addressing the skills gap by investing in the workforce of tomorrow. Through our support of Open Doors, we aim to demonstrate that a career in construction is not only a viable choice but a dynamic and essential profession that builds the foundations of our society.
