MPB is delighted to announce that they have been awarded a new contract by St Joseph – Berkeley Homes, a long-term and very valued client, to complete the basement, groundworks and RC frame to another prestigious project in Birmingham.
The project has a value of circa £13 million and represents Stage 1 of 3 of the St Joseph Homes Glasswater Locks development. Nestled between Jennens Road, Lawley Middleway, Belmont Row and the Digbeth Branch Canal, the scheme is a rejuvenation project which will create a new mixed-use canalside neighbourhood providing high-quality one, two and three-bedroom contemporary apartments and duplexes across seven blocks, alongside 20,000 sq ft of commercial space.
MPB’s scope of works is to complete the reinforced concrete frame structures from the ground up to Blocks E1 – E4, in addition to the RC basement box to Blocks E1 – E3. The works will require a concrete volume of over 8,000 cubic metres over a 64 week programme.
Works will consist of all substructure works – below ground drainage, gas and waterproofing membrane, attenuation tank, sump pump concrete surround, petrol interceptor and including concrete surround, reinforced concrete substructure, basement box, substructure frame up to podium (GF) structural slab level (SSL) including slabs (incl. slab thickenings, beams and splays, transfer slabs), walls including basement, columns, upstands, slabs, service shafts/risers, lift pits, lift shafts, staircases, landings, steps, ramps for Blocks E1 to E4.
Superstructure works will comprise reinforced concrete frame from ground floor completed structural slab level (SSL) including walls, columns, slabs (incl. slab thickenings, beams and splays, transfer slabs), upstands, service shafts/risers, lift shafts, precast stairs with inset permanent balustrades on installation, landings and half landings.
