A533 Expressway Bridge

Under the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase of this design and build contract, MPB played an integral role in shaping the construction methodology alongside Amey SRM JV and National Highways. MPB’s early input focused on buildability, sequencing, and risk reduction, ensuring that the proposed solutions were efficient, safe, and aligned with the project’s delivery constraints.

A key element of MPB’s contribution was taking full responsibility for the reinforcement detailing across the project. This not only streamlined the design to construction interface but also demonstrated the organisation’s capability and maturity in managing and absorbing appropriate levels of design risk, an essential component of successful ECI delivery.

Through this collaborative approach, MPB helped establish a robust,
deliverable methodology that supported programme certainty and reinforced their position as a trusted strategic partner on major National Highways infrastructure schemes.

The A533/M56 scheme highlighted the strength of genuine early contractor involvement, with MPB shaping buildable, low‑risk solutions and taking full ownership of reinforcement detailing to streamline delivery. This collaborative approach provided programme certainty, reduced interface risk, and reinforced MPB’s position as a trusted strategic partner to Amey SRM JV and National Highways on major infrastructure projects.
