Longbridge MG

Above ground, MPB constructed the complete reinforced concrete superstructure across all three buildings. This included three slipform concrete cores, podium slabs, suspended slabs, reinforced concrete columns and walls, precast stairs and landings, and a series of retaining walls integrated into the permanent works.

CHALLENGES / SUCCESSES

  • The project presented a range of complex site constraints that required precise planning and coordinated delivery.
  • To manage the interface with Network Rail, we implemented a dual tower crane strategy that maintained programme efficiency while eliminating any risk of over sailing or compound collapse, reducing the need for direct Network Rail involvement and protecting the schedule.
  • We designed and delivered a 100 metre permanent retaining wall to enable safe excavation and ground level reduction and installed a bespoke precast retaining system to manage the level difference between the piling mat and the highway.
  • During basement construction, our robust excavation methodology safeguarded the adjacent road, ensured public safety and maintained uninterrupted progress.

Together, these solutions demonstrate MPB’s strength in delivering complex works on highly constrained sites with confidence, precision and absolute reliability.
