Manchester United football club

Working within one of the most recognisable football stadiums in the world, MPB delivered its scope within a live operational environment, requiring close coordination with Jarvis, the club’s facilities team, and other specialist contractors. The works were carefully planned around the football calendar to ensure that matchday operations and broadcast schedules were unaffected.

CHALLENGES / SUCCESSES

Working within a live Premier League stadium presented a number of logistical and technical challenges, all of which were successfully managed through detailed planning and collaboration.

  • Access to the Stretford End was restricted due to existing concourses, spectator routes, and surrounding stadium infrastructure, requiring precise sequencing of works and controlled material deliveries.
  • The interface between new seating installations and legacy structures demanded accurate setting out and careful coordination with structural engineers to ensure load transfer, fixing details, and finish levels met specification.
  • Health and safety was paramount due to the public nature of the venue. Robust segregation, controlled access procedures, and strict adherence to site rules ensured that MPB’s works were delivered safely and without incident.

The completed works enhanced spectator comfort and safety while maintaining the character of this iconic stand, reinforcing MPB’s capability to deliver specialist stadium works within complex, high-profile environments.
