MARSTON BOX

Originally tendered as a 60-week programme, MPB completed the works in just 43 weeks, enabling BBV to meet the critical M42 closure date despite delays caused by National Highways approvals.

Throughout delivery, MPB worked closely with BBV and HS2, providing daily progress updates, contingency planning, and full technical support to ensure absolute confidence in programme and quality. This outstanding performance earned the project the CONSTRUCT 2023 Project of the Year Award.

CHALLENGES / SUCCESSES

Delivering Freyssinet’s highly precise guide raft slab design, meeting strict flatness and tolerance requirements.
Operating within a confined excavation bordered by the M42 and an ecologically protected zone.
Collaborating with BBV and the Design Team to resolve complex construction details driven by high skew angles and dense reinforcement.
Maintaining programme momentum through severe winter conditions and compressed timescales.
Successfully completing a continuous 1,380m³ concrete pour.
Installing precast parapets during a planned but time dependant M42 road closure.
