Peterborough Energy from Waste (EfW) is a large-scale infrastructure project delivering a modern energy recovery facility capable of processing residual waste and generating low carbon energy for the regional network. The development forms part of a long term strategy to reduce landfill dependency while providing reliable, sustainable power and heat.
The facility comprised a series of reinforced concrete structures including deep foundations, basements, service trenches, structural slabs, and heavily loaded plant support zones. The industrial nature of the scheme, combined with specialist process equipment and a tightly sequenced programme, required precise engineering, robust temporary works, and close coordination with multiple stakeholders.
The Peterborough EfW project presented a combination of heavy industrial construction demands, complex interfaces, and strict quality and safety requirements.
Through disciplined planning, strong engineering control, and close collaboration with project partners, Peterborough Energy from Waste was delivered safely and efficiently.
