Progress House is a large scale purpose built student accommodation development delivered as part of a wider regeneration initiative, providing high quality residential and amenity space within an urban setting. Constructed by Winvic, the scheme comprises a multi-storey accommodation building with reinforced concrete substructure and superstructure supporting repetitive floor plates and shared social facilities.

Located within a constrained student active environment, the project required a disciplined and highly coordinated construction approach to manage logistics, programme demands, and interfaces with neighbouring properties and public routes.

CHALLENGES / SUCCESSES

The Progress House development required careful management of programme, logistics, and structural delivery within a tight urban footprint.

The reinforced concrete frame was delivered on a constrained site with limited access and laydown space, requiring just-in-time material deliveries, controlled lifting operations, and precise sequencing of pours.
Repetitive floor plates and vertical elements demanded consistent cycle times and accurate setting out to maintain quality and programme across multiple storeys.
The structure incorporated transfer zones and shared amenity areas, introducing variations in slab thickness, reinforcement density, and load paths that required close coordination between engineering, temporary works, and site teams.
Working in proximity to neighbouring buildings and live student and public pedestrian routes necessitated strict safety controls, hoarding arrangements, and public interface management throughout construction.
Strong collaboration with Winvic enabled early resolution of technical queries, coordinated planning of pour sequences, and reliable crane utilisation, supporting steady progress and programme certainty.

Through proactive planning, disciplined site management, and close collaboration with Winvic and the wider project team, Progress House was delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
